Wazzup Everybody? So over the years, Tekken is the one fighting game people most know since back when the time you play this also on your old and goodie PlayStation. After the successful game of Tag Tournament 2, Namco Bandai Kicked it up a notch with some new stuff bringing you with Tekken 7. Check out my detailed Review of this After this break.
So, I’m a big fan of Tekken but I sucked at some point of it but It doesn’t stop me for being a fan of this Fighting Game. Over the few years, Tekken is getting improved over and over the series, since the Last Tournament 2, It turns out to be a successful game over the year, and still, people play this and Tekken 6
There’s a lot of new stuff going on with the game, it has a better Namco BanaPassport Intergration. One thing I like is you can tap your card into it without paying/inserting a coin to get the Daily Bonus. You will get all the prizes and bonuses on the Tekken-net website but I’ll talk about it more later.
Starting the game, you will have an option to engage to a fight with a fighter who’s playing locally or CPU Battle which engage Story Mode, and also an Option to Practice Mode where you can Practice Moves with a CPU for 5 mins which is a great addition for those who doesn’t own the game (like me.) It costs 30Php at Timezone but for me, I just winged it.
On the Selection Screen, there’s a lot of New Characters here like Lucky Chloe, Shaheen, Claudio, Giga, and More, one of them is a Filipina, Josie Rizal. I picked Josie Rizal after Trying the game for the first time with Lili (which is usually my main character throughout Tekken 5 to Tournament 2.) I wasn’t expecting the attack will be easy to learn, but she’s little too fast for the foosteps because of the relation to Eskrima, Kickboxing, and a little bit of Street Style/Kalye.
The Graphics are now based from Unreal Engine unlike Tournament 2 which is based on Namco’s own Engine, which is a good improvement for graphical design but I did manage to have a slowdown during Local Match and Versus Screen which took 15 seconds to load, I hope Namco do something about it.
The New Fighting system Is nothing that special except for three main things, One is that you can’t do Continuous Combo anymore, Two you can cancel enemy’s combo if there’s a time to counter-attack, Three, is Rage Art, which is technically a one-time super move that deals a lot of damage, take note though that there’s a different button combinations for every character and you can only use once in a Round.
The Online system is pretty decent with its Tekken-NET feature, you can claim the prizes and bonus you had and use it to buy Nifty stuff for your characters, another cool feature is that you can see the full statistics of the Characters you managed to Rank Up. I was weirded where if you want to change the Username and Tagline takes a few days to approve, but for some people, it’s not a big deal.
So, this is a Must-play Game? Yes. Arcade Experience has a little drawback though but it’s still enjoyable to play. I’m looking forward to the Console Version of this Game on PS4 and Xbox One. To have a full experience with this game, make sure you have a BanaPassport to play with this, if you play Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune with it, It’s perfectly fine.
