SplatoonPH inks their way

Hello Kids or Squids! or could be both? Splatoon as a game is rising on the Philippines as a means of a new kind of competitive sport and community thanks to SplatoonPH. Find out more below.

You may ask "What is Splatoon?" Splatoon is a team based 3rd person shooter developed by Nintendo which features a single player campaign and multiplayer. What makes it different from other shooting genres is that it's like a playing paintball but in a bigger scale where you "splat" enemies and the environment to your advantage.

Now the Splatoon Community is still rather small and barely noticeable but on December 9, SplatoonPH held LAN meetup at Playbook Circuit Makati. With as much as 20 players coming with their Nintendo Switch in hand, they easily setup and did a trial game which went fairly well.

I saw how easy it was to setup and connect the switch with a few minor hiccups on the internet connectivity but it didn't stop SplatoonPH on finding ways to make the event fun despite the odds. I like how they can just move around if the docks or monitor has a problem. I got to try the game itself and I got to say, it is very fun and very competitive coming from what I thought was a child's game. Things got more competitive as connection was more stable. Two groups of people finally got in LAN and the game they started on felt like it came from a ranked match. It was intense watching them play on and at the same time have fun, it was tidal locked as to whom can get the most area splat and towers move. As the game ended there was no hard feelings but feelings of accomplishment and friendliness from both sides. It's what SplatoonPH aims to do.
