MSI GP62MVR 7RF Leopard Pro [Full Review]

Wazzup Everybody? MSI already delivers a lot of cool things when it comes to gaming laptops, and here's one of them. Considering there's a bunch of Gaming Laptops but I got an eye on this one for the one particular reason: Bang-for-the-buck Intel Core i7 7th Gen + NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 Gaming laptop.
So this review will be more of a gamer's perspective who NEVER own any gaming PC ever so this became a long ride for me to write a review. So here's my full review of the MSI GP62MVR 72F Leopard Pro.

Let's start off with the physical tour, it weighs roughly at 2.4 kg, at the top, you'll find the shiny MSI logo, and their MSI Gaming which I really like, it's also a matte design so you don't have to wipe your gaming laptop very often when it comes to fingerprints, this model I got is a 15.6 Full HD (1920x1080) matte TN Panel (which I definitely like over IPS, but they have an option of getting the IPS panel if you like.) I really like the panel, it's very easy for me to read in the daylight over the reflective panel. The flex is what I say: pretty fine, and you won't bend your screen anyway. It has some good selection of ports as well: On the left side, you'll find a Killer Gigabit Ethernet port, a USB 3.0 Type-A port, a full-sized HDMI port, a Mini-DisplayPort, another USB 3.0 Type-A port, a USB 3.1 Type-C port, and two audio jacks for the microphone and headphones respectively.

On the back, we got some ventilation there that we will talk in the minute, on the right, you'll get a power port for the massive 180W Power Brick, a full-sized SD Card Reader, a USB 2.0 Port, and that's it. And at the bottom, we got some more ventilation and four 2W Speakers.

It has the latest Intel Core i7-7700HQ clocked at 2.8GHz, 8GB of DDR4 RAM clocked at 1200MHz, a 120GB NVMe M.2 SSD (although this labelled as an optional thing to have,) a 1TB SATA HDD, and it has a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 3GB of GDDR5 VRAM, Killer Gigabit LAN, 802.11 ac WiFi with Bluetooth 4.2, 6-cell 41WH of battery and it ships with Microsoft Windows 10.
The keyboard is made by Steelseries, but it's not a mechanical keyboard, but I really like the feel of it and bonus points for the arrow key layout and the white backlit. (although kinda weird that the MSI Dragon Center claims it has RGB although.)

The Trackpad is not performing as I have expected, Seemingly the response is not that smooth as I like. Although this is not a huge surprise considering nobody uses trackpads on gaming and technically defeats the purpose.
3DMark 11 Benchmark Score
PCMark 8 Benchmark Score
Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 Benchmark Result

For a gamer's perspective who never own a gaming PC or laptop, this thing is a beast. Overwatch gives me 45-60fps on Epic Settings in its native resolution, CS:GO is a real breeze here at 100fps on Maximum Settings, and even Chivalry: Medieval Warfare crushes it on Highest Settings. On the benchmark side of thing, 3DMark 11 gave it a score of X4980 while PCMark 8 Creative Conventional 3.0 gave this 3417 points, and Unigine Heaven Benchmark gave it a score of 1268 at 50.3FPS at its maximum settings. (Benchmarks are run through the Shift Turbo Mode)
Cooling is a breeze (another pun not intended) with the Cooler Boost 4. Another plus points for MSI, but with Shift, you can switch it back to something like comfort mode if you want something quiet and you don't need full CPU power to run, plus you don't want to overclock a gaming laptop with that kind of form factor.

Software on the other hand, I'll give it a B-minus for the Norton software, but it's not that terrible considering you get the awesome MSI Dragon Center to control everything you need in one program (and also can be controlled with a smartphone app, pretty nice touch,) And you also get free code from WTFast which is a Gaming VPN that can improve network performance while gaming, although I don't consider this as a Stream-ready device, yet but it's still capable if you know how to set it up properly, I recorded my Overwatch Gameplay to my Personal Channels with this and it works flawlessly with OBS Studio.

So in conclusion; The Intel Core i7 7th Gen and GeForce® GTX 1060 makes a killer combo plus with its nifty cooling solution making it the best laptop I got in hand for its price range, its a big word for someone who "Work now, play later" user like me, and someone who never owns any gaming PC or laptops, but I want to see the other brands try to dethrone this gaming laptop with the same value.

But either way, this gaming laptop will get a deserving Seal of Approval from Tech, Gaming, and Random Stuff for the Bang-for-the-Buck Gaming Laptop (1st Half 2017.)

Video will be coming soon at bit.ly/NTGR-yt for even further details. Make sure to check out MSI Gaming Philippines Facebook Page if you're interested with this laptop I reviewed.
